Pathways to the Trades
One Day Forums on Careers in the Skilled Trades and Technologies
Pathways to the Trades was a one day forum held at various colleges through the city to provide information on opportunities and careers in the skilled trades, the Apprenticeship system, and Employment Assistance and Incentives.
Becoming an apprentice can be an important first step to learning new skills and building a rewarding career. Jobs in the skilled trades pay well, and are interesting and challenging. Plus, you can earn while you learn.
Apprentices already in a trade were invited to speak about their experiences and employers and educators were present to answer questions. For each event there were over 100 participants.
Four events were held during 2008-2009 at the following locations:
- Carpenter's Local 27 Training Centre
- George Brown College
- Centennial College
- Humber College
