Working Together for Women’s Employment

Four information sessions on employment, training and resources for women in the Thorncliffe and Flemingdon Neighbourhood.

Immigrants, especially women immigrants, face consistent barriers to career development and find it increasingly difficult to secure a first job. Working Together for Women's Employment is an initiative to help women gain employment resources and opportunities in the Thorncliffe, Flemingdon Neighbourhood.

Acting as a catalyst, TWIG brought together relevant stakeholders and organizations in the area to form this partnership. The partnership is a lasting legacy and has resulted in a collaborative effort to help women achieve their career related goals.

The 2008-2009 information sessions included:

  1. What are Employers Looking For?
  2. Jobs of the Future: Where will you work?
  3. Access to Education, Training and Resources
  4. A Home-based Business and Bazaar

The 2007-2008 sessions focused on:

  1. The trades and occupations
  2. Self-employment and Entrepreneurship
  3. Internationally-trained individuals, teachers and Early Childhood Educator's

Participants had access to free TTC tickets, food, childcare and door prizes.
